There are three models in Korean cosmetics manufacturing:
Private Label: The manufacturer's existing, proven formulas are filled into your branded packaging. The simplest route (no new formula development), lowest MOQ (3,000 units per SKU), and lowest development cost. The formula isn't exclusive, as other brands may use the same base, but differentiation comes from ingredient story, branding, and positioning.
OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturing): You supply a proprietary formula, the manufacturer produces it at scale. Lead time 8–12 weeks, plus stability testing and compatibility assessment as extra steps for a new formula.
ODM (Original Design Manufacturing): Collaborative development where the manufacturer's R&D team develops a formula to your brief. A good option for brands without a chemist on staff.
